Book Review: Staying Healthy with the Seasons by Elson M. Hass, M.D.

​Recently I read the book, Staying Healthy with the Seasons by Elson M. Hass, M.D.  I’d like to share with you a few takeaways that I found in this book to better assist you on your own wellness journey.
 
  1. The seasons really do have an impact on our bodies. While I was reading through the various mother earth changes, I noticed how my body reacts to the changes in seasons and the ones that I feel better in. Knowing that summer is hard digestive time for me, this book helped me find herbs and ways of eating to help with those digestive issues.
 
  1. It was another reassurance for me on how powerful yoga is for your body especially during the winter months. We can reset our own bodies by doing meditation, asana practice, breathing exercises and so much more!
 
  1. This book is a great resource for you to introduce herbs into your seasonal diet. As a tea drinker myself, I found the combination of herbs and what ones are needed throughout the year when the climate is changing to be very helpful.
 
  1. Our body shows us what it needs! Do you have dry lips, dark circles under your eyes or discolored tongue? This book guides you through what organs are attached to these various symptoms and how to create true preventative care routine so you live a more integrated lifestyle.
 
 
Like me, you might not agree with everything is this book but it does have tools to help you feeling your best as the seasons change and our body adapts. No matter what, take extra care during seasonal transitions to give your body and mind the reset that it needs to connect with mother earth!
